Translocators 1.8.+ moves items and liquids between neighbouring inventories and tanks in a way that feels natural to Minecraft. It was built in 36 hours for the ModJam contest and took first prize.
You place a translocator on the side of a chest or tank and set the flow direction. A filter, glowstone for whole stacks, redstone to toggle, a diamond nugget for regulate mode and an iron ingot for redstone output give fine control, plus a placeable crafting grid on the C key.
