Railcraft

Railcraft started as a simple minecart mod and grew into a full railway tech tree. You get a working signalling system, cart linking and locomotives (steam included), a crowbar for quick rail adjustment, and many track types: high speed, elevator, launch, junction, one-way and more.

Multi-block structures such as the Steam Boiler and huge Iron Tanks join TNT carts and tank carts. Runs on Forge, Minecraft 1.7.2 - 1.12.2.
